Work in Web3.0

Crypto has, from day one, been structured around two of the most important secular trends in work: remote work, thanks to its decentralised nature, and freelancing, since everyone is doing multiple things at once. As crypto has evolved, that's shown up as a rise in bounties and grants — work split between core contributors working full-time on a project and community contributors making smaller, part-time contributions.

This unlocks a few things: you can join almost any project you like and start contributing right away, since the barriers to entry are low (just join a Discord); your work speaks for you rather than your resume, since your contributions build a visible track record; and you can effectively trial a job before committing to it.

The challenges are real too — discovering projects is hard since most live inside Discord communities without much outside visibility, the actual time commitment can dwarf a few hours of interviews, and coordinating work gets harder as the number of contributors grows.
